Wondering how to drink essiac tea? Of course you are. This is because there are many varying recommendations when you look online. Since making sure you drink essiac tea correctly is of the utmost importance, I am glad you are here today! And don't worry - it's not nearly as complicated as some sites make it seem :)
It's super-simple. Once you have brewed your essiac and stored it in the fridge, you're all ready to drink your essiac tea.
Step 1: Shake or stir your container to ensure that some of the herbs end up in each and every serving that you pour. We recommend leaving your essiac in an container such as what you'd store iced tea in with the lid off for each access. We use a large spoon or ladle to stir the tea.
Step 2: Pour the amount you'd like to take (it's 3 oz. for adults, unless you're doing the Aggressive Serving PLUS which is 6 oz.)
Step 3 (Optional): Add stevia or unsweetened fruit or vegetable juice to the tea if you're not a fan of the slightly bitter taste.
Be sure to drink the essiac cold. By reheating it, you are essentially cooking it twice. For that reason, adding honey isn't the best because the honey won't melt well in the cold tea.
Essiac should be taken on an empty stomach. This is the way that Rene Caisse and Dr. Charles Brusch found to work best in their research on essiac tea which occured from 1959 through 1967 at the Brusch Medical Research Center in Cambridge, MA.
For the purpose of taking essiac, this means you can take essiac one hour before eating. You can also take essiac two hours after eating food. Taking essiac at these times means that the herbs can be better absorbed into the body.
Here is a sample schedule for you:
While it's true that essiac should be stored in the fridge once it's brewed, you can easily go to work or anywhere else and still get your servings taken. In fact, drinking essiac while out and about is great for many people because their stomach is more likely to be empty then. Simply put the necessary number of oz. of tea you'll need for the day into a thermos with a few ice cubes. It will stay perfectly fresh no matter where you go during the day.
